Massage Therapy Works
The benefits of massage therapy are numerous and varied: reduced stress; reduced pain; improved circulation; improved energy; lower heart rate and blood pressure; reduced anxiety; increased immune function. Massage therapy is also known to help those with chronic pain (fibromyalgia), chronic headaches, digestive issues, insomnia, and TMJ.
Sojourner offers specialized sessions for every individual using a combination of Swedish, Deep Tissue, and Myofascial massage.
What is Swedish massage?
Swedish massage includes long, flowing strokes to induce deep relaxation, increase circulation, stabilize metabolic activities, and counteract the stress of daily living.
What is deep tissue massage?
Deep tissue massage utilizes deeper pressure to address "knots" and chronic muscular pain and to aid in injury recovery and the formulation of healthy scar tissue.
What is myofascial massage?
Myofascial massage (also known as myofascial release or myofascial technique) focuses on the fascia that binds together our muscular and skeletal structures. Sometimes, these tissues become bound together, forming trigger points (points of pain in the fascia). Slow, steady, compression strokes are used to manipulate and ultimately release the trigger points while realigning and “unsticking” the tissue, resulting in less pain and less restricted movement.
